About Yattendon

Yattendon is a diverse farming and property business situated in the heart of West Berkshire, covering over 9,000 acres of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

We strongly value our traditional ethos and sense of community. The Estate is home to over 750 people with some 330 people working on businesses based in and around Yattendon.

Yattendon offers a unique environment for people to live and work. There is a strong sense of community and the local area offers residents and businesses a wide range of amenities and events to enjoy.

History

The Yattendon Estate in its present form is the amalgamation of several smaller estates acquired by the first Lord Iliffe between 1925 and 1940.

Yattendon has a long history of agriculture as you can see from the photographs on the next page.

The Estate was also a pioneer in the UK Christmas Tree industry in the 1970’s and this continues today.

Farming & The Estate

Yattendon is in many ways a traditional farming estate. The Estate operates a large in-hand farm and also has two tenanted farms.

The Estate farm covers an area of 2,201 hectares (5,438 acres). The crops grown are wheat, barley, beans, peas, oil seed rape, linseed, oats and maize.

The Environment

A total of 1,088 PV modules are now sat on the roof harnessing the sun’s energy and we anticipate that over 75% of the electricity produced by the system will be consumed by the brewery.

The installation is anticipated to save the equivalent of 84.18 tonnes of carbon each year which is the equivalent to planting 3,866 trees every year.
