About Our Trees

For our cut trees, we grow two main varieties : the traditional Norway Spruce and the more popular Nordman Fir.  For our pot grown trees, as well as the Norway Spruce and Nordman Fir, we also grow a Blue Spruce and a Serbian Spruce, otherwise known as Omorika.  All of our trees are hand grown on the Estate and in the case of our pot grown trees, they are grown in a specialist pot which allows the trees' roots to grow out beyond the confides of the pot itself.  You wont see the roots as each tree is put in a cliamte bag and cover pot but it means that you will be able to replant them in your garden after the festive period to grown on, making them an ideal environmentally friendly purchase.

NORWAY SPRUCE

The Norway Spruce is the archetypal 'traditional' pine fragranced tree and ours are grown as a specialist crop and pruned to enhance its natural cone shape.  It tends to be a bushy tree with short light green needles. If it is kept cool and watered well, it will keep its needles as well as any other variety.

NORDMAN FIR

The Nordman Fir originates from the Caucasus mountains and has established itself as the premium 'needlefast' tree. Each tree is pruned annually to produce and maintain a dense bushy shape and its needles are a deep green and glossy with tiered branches to showcase your decorations to the best effect.

BLUE SPRUCE

The Blue Spruce is a speciality of Yattendon and it is similar to the Norway Spruce, except it has beautiful steel blue needles than have a silvery shimmer.  It is hard to get this blue colour but our soils at Yattendon suit this variety really well.

SERBIAN SPRUCE (OMORIKA)

The Serbian Spruce has dense branches with a two-tone effect of green and blue needles.  It tends to be narrow in shape making it the perfect choice for smaller spaces.

All stock is from replanted nurseries on the Estate, on a 8-9 year cycle making them fully sustainable.  Each tree is pruned annually, hand selected for cutting and graded for height, quality and variety.  The tree are all pre-priced for ease of purchase.
